My name is Juan Carlos with Expert Village,
and today we’re going to be talking about softball for beginners. Sliding has to be
done in this manner and this manner only. One; if you do not run hard, the slide will
not be effective because your momentum will not carry to the base that you need to. Another
thing you also have to understand is that your hands have to be off the ground to prevent
the momentum from decreasing. The other thing is you also want to be in a figure 4 position
so that way the slide is effective, so you’re able to reach the base with the far foot possible.
As she’s coming in. The most important detail about going down and sliding is one, that
you’re in the figure 4 position. You’re able to reach with one leg or the other. It doesn’t
matter which leg you prefer. The second thing is that your hands are off the ground. That
prevents momentum from decreasing as you begin to go down and as you’re sliding through to
reach the base.

@SmileMusicLove hey the best way to prevent getting cut up is to buy slidding shorts and knee sliders, hope this helps!

@made4music430 A lot of people DO break bones sliding, but i wouldnt be scared. I had only practiced sliding once before did it in a game and i was scared shitless, and then i slid into home and i was SAAAAFE. Cause Im that awesome, and now im really good at sliding. ALWAYS wear pants when sliding. And some people use a sliding pad, but i dont. And Sliding shorts(i use this)

I'm terrible at sliding. It's more like a trip and fall and hope one leg is sticking out.

Is it just me or did she have her hands down as she came into the base? She only put them up to show the proper position after the slide was done. I'm trying to teach my daughter to slide and I'm afraid she is going to hurt herself.
