Hey Renters, I’m Niccole Schreck, the rental experience expert at Rent.com. I often get asked the question, “when’s the best time of year to rent an apartment?” It sounds like it might have an easy answer, but it’s a bit more complicated than that. It really depends on what’s most important to you. Having options or getting the best deal.
The most popular time to move in America is between May and September. The
weather’s nice and many young adults have just graduated. Plus younger kids are out of school making the movie easier on families. There’s a high turnover rate the apartment industry during this time of the year so you’ll have your pick of the litter however you may have a harder time
negotiating rental rates and less time to make a decision before someone else swoops in and takes the apartment. Especially if you live in a city with a tight rental market. If you’re looking for a deal and don’t mind
moving in the cold consider doing your move between October and April. It may be a bit harder to find a place but property managers will be more open
to negotiation to fill their vacancies. If you choose to move during the summer you’ll have more options and if you choose to move during the winter you can get a better deal. So the best
time of the year to rent an apartment is really up to you. Once you’ve decided
